1.  Not sure what happened to Tuesday's post.   I DID post it but it is not showing that I did.  So maybe the server was down...sorry!  A reminder that the students have agendas and are expected to write all the info. there as well so nothing is missed, like their Grammar test they had today and were supposed to study for!!  Marks ranged from 4 out of 18 to 18 out of 18. 
2.  I told kids to eat a good breakfast Friday as students will take  the District Reading test.  They know what it is and are ready for it.
3.  Grammar test- signed and returned Friday.
4.  Pizza money- ASAP
5.  Interview and Summary should be written by hand and ready to type Friday during our computer time as we do not get much computer time!
6.  French menus- students will be given class time for a week, but are welcome to work on it at home if they like.
7.  Brown Paper bag project- same as above.

1.  Preposition sentences- due tuesday.
2.  Paragraph- due Tuesday.
3.  Novel Study- brown paper bag booklet project- optional, will be given class time, due: June 12.  Criteria sheet reviewed today and is in Novel Study duotang.
4.  Interview with peer and summary- should be done forst draft and ready to type when we get computer time.
5.  French menu- try to have it typed out. If not, use free class time to ask for computers.
 Sorry....District Track Meet has been cancelled by Dr. Sullivan.

Friday, May 23

1.  French Menu- first draft and hopefully typed version- ASAP.  STRINGS students do not get as much time to type, so less is expected but they can also use lunch time to get on computers if possible.
2.  Interview with partner and Summary for novel- paragraphs due ASAP.  Please remember that what students hand in is the mark they will receive.  Make sure students check over and possibly have parent or buddy edit before considering it a final assignment.
3.  Bring novel Monday so you have it as a reference.
4.  Commas and quotations quiz- Thursday.  We reviewed comma usage today and we will review quotations usage next week before the quiz.
5.  No school Wednesday.  District Track Meet is scheduled for Tuesday and hopefully, that will not change.


THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING YOUR CHILD TO BRING IN DONATIONS FOR THE SPCA AND THE JDRF!!!!  WE COLLECTED OVER $200.OO TO SPLIT AND DONATE TO THE ORGANIZATIONS.   MCGOWAN IS ALWAYS VERY GENEROUS AND THOUGHTFUL.  I ALSO APPRECIATE THE LESSONS THAT I TRIED TO TEACH THE STUDENTS ABOUT DONATING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THEIR HEARTS, BUT I AM GLAD THEY ALSO APPRECIATED THE INCENTIVE PRIZES...WE HAD A LOT OF FUN!

1.  Track Meet Tuesday- be at the school in the gym with proper gear and lunch and fluids and hat, etc..by 8 AM at latest.  Good Luck!
2.  Novel must be read no later than Tuesday after long weekend.  Bring to school to write your summary.
3.  Manga art- bring home if not done.
4.  SPCA/ JDRF donations- thank you so far!  One more week.  Thanks1

1.  Math Quiz Friday- what we have covered in Geometry so far.  Students have made notes and practised...and they were given a cue card to start in class to study.
2.  Grammar quiz- know what is a noun, verb, adjective, pronoun and adverb and how to identify in a sentence.  Study Grammar duotangs.  Morning worksheets have also been reviewing Grammar.
3.  First draft of autobiography paragraph.  Concentrate on a variety of sentence starts.  Due:  Thursday.
4.  Scholastic orders due: Friday.

1.  Scholastic orders- Friday.
2.  Games assignment- due Tuesday.
3.  New Math unit- did page 203 together, finish 205 on your own.  Most finished in class. Due tuesday.
4.  Math quiz on terminology of geometry so far, such as line, line segment, ray, parallel, perpendicular, obtuse, right and acute angles.

1.  Congrats again to all students who made it to Young Artists and Young Authors Conferences!  Our class had the most winners...yahoo!  Students who win and take the day to go to a conference are not marked absent and they do not have to do any work for that day.
2.  French title page- already due but if you were absent, try for Monday or tuesday next week.
3.  French- optional- first draft of menu- or wait until next week during class time.
4.  Ratios and fractions test- out of 54- please sign, remind kids to do corrections and return Monday.
5.  Scholastic orders- due next Friday.
6.  Reminder that students should have sun screen at school as well as a hat for recess and lunches...if parents permit. Label sun screen and hats please.
